Sparrows in the wheat field

There are some very nice fields not far from my house with many birds of prey, merlin and the like. However, they are extremely shy and 300mm doesn't quite cut it (do I need a tele-converter?). These little sparrows are not very exotic, but if you set that shutter speed high enough, they are quite photogenic.

Nice photo! I take a lot of similar shots with goldfinches. You don't always have to find the biggest baddest bird to make a picture worthwhile.
