A Return to B&W:
Posted By: Artymous, 03-11-2007, 12:53 AM

It's been awhile since I fooled around a lot with B&W.. so decided to do some work on some quick shots I did tonight.

I also have them up in full-size on my flickr account:
Artyste's Flickr

Or you can go to my gallery here on this site:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/gallery/user-album-663.html
and.. you know.. rate them or leave comments or whatever you feel like

There was a time when I pretty much only worked in B&W.. when I shot film mostly.. and for some reason got out of doing it so much in digital. Some of my best shots and personal favorites are.. however, B&W shots.. so I think I'm going to start doing a lot more. I'm still working on finding a B&W conversion method that I really like.. but like most things in life, each individual shot tends to require a little bit of a different treatment anyway.

Anyway.. just wanted to share, as I don't do it much and haven't taken many photos lately.

Enjoy.

That child's expressions in shots #2 and #3 are so adorable! His eyes are so piercing! Were his eyes blue?

(#2) Uhh...I don't know the answer to your question, but (#3) I do have one question...

Yah.. the color of his eyes in the 4th shot are untouched from the original color photo.

Artyste I love the expressions on #2. And the slight colorization on the last one is very effective. I'm searching for a definitive B&W conversion method too. Haven't found one yet, But I keep trying. These are very good.

NaCl(anyone who can do good B&W conversions has my admiration)H2O

This is my favorite. The expression is priceless. The skin tone is neutral yet containing the subtle facial movement which is sophisticated.

Great shot!

Your ability of getting the right feeling in B & W is great. This is something I would like to learn. Thanks for sharing.
