Capturing a a bolt of lightning like this is a definite photographic bucket list item. Great job.

Something exploded at the base of that strike.

Nice capture.

That was a close one. I hope you were in a safe place.
That's what I was thinking! How much time between the flash and the boom? Even those little secondary and tertiary strands can kill you. The main bolt could probably vaporize you!

Is that water droplets on the front element (or filter) or flare? It kinda distracts from the image, as does the bushes in the foreground.

This sort of thing can be dangerous. I hope you were in a safe spot. That one looks like it was fairly close...

I took this from inside the second story of my house. Rain on the window, not a lot to do about the tree position unfortunately! Agree, it’d be better if the droplets weren’t there but I like to not over edit these things.

I think it was a second. To be honest it was a huge storm, hard to remember!

If my math is right, with sound traveling at 746 mph at sea level, a one second delay would mean that the bolt was about 0.2 miles away. Glad you were inside!

Now that's what I call a bolt. Awesome. Sound must have been impressive too.

Impressive shot! I bet the window panes rattled after that one.
