Not a wood thrush!?
Posted By: blues_hawk, 07-16-2021, 03:26 PM

I hiked to the top of the Buffalo Mountain preserve trail this morning and thought I had finally gotten the drop on a wood thrush. Nope. Turns out this guy is actually a Brown Thrasher, which has a very different tune and those yellow eyes.

Good shot of the Brown Thrasher. A relative of the Mocking Bird but much more difficult to photograph. Good catch.

Great eye. And if it is a hard to catch bird, I guess you came away with something.

Well, it did take hiking up to a sketchy little pinnacle rock on top of a mountain. :P
This one may have gotten used to people considering the crowds I saw on the way back down.
