Ask, and ye shall receive... those are Epidendrum orchids, EM... very likely a hybrid, but they are known generally as "reed stem" epidendrums because of they way they grow. They tend to bloom sequentially, meaning the stem elongates and produces new flowers as the older ones wilt. There are many hybrids in this group.

Beautifully captured!

Shows what I know - I thought they might be some form of milkweed - I would like them if I were a bufferfly.

The colors are right for milkweed, but these are orchids. I have grown some of these (none currently ) but I can't recall if I've ever seen butterflies on them, sorry. It's possible, some butterflies are attracted to certain colors, and in the tropics and subtropics, this group of epidendrums is often planted in raised beds for landscaping. They bloom a lot!

I think you would bend the stems if you landed on them

"crucifix" orchid is Epidendrum ibaguense, which is one of the species in this group. I think that species has brighter color, the particular plants in EM's image are, I think, a hybrid, but they are all "reed stem" Epidendrums.
