Nature Frustrated hawk

Our local Red-shouldered hawk was a bit frustrated with the mockingbird harassing it.

Mocking birds are known antagonists to hawks. He'd probably like to eat him. Nice catch.

I wish we could know what each bird was thinking. The mockingbird must feel completely safe to get that close.

The mocking bird is just living up to its name, mocking the Cooper’s hawk

Any other bied in the frame and the impact / irony would just not be the same

I guess the mocking bird trusts on his reactivity and agility, or maybe knows tasting too bad

Terrific capture! I have many similar scenes of smaller birds harassing red tail hawks, but not Cooper's hawks.
