Coincidentally, I got a Spotmatic recently from the marketplace here and tried it with an eight-element 50mm f/1.4,
but I sold off my Mir1B, because I found it to 'duplicate' my Takumar 35mm f/2.

I've always had mixed results with the Mir1B. The Takumar 35mm f3.5 is decent, love the Takumar 28mm 3.5 though, one of my favorites. The 35mm f2 looks like a nice lens for sure, but they always seem to command a very high price.

I purchased mine a few years ago from a member at another photo forum. I don't remember the price, which means it must not have been very expensive.
It was yellowed - but nothing a couple days in the sun couldn't fix {and nothing seems to have come unglued}

i have a Spotmatic sp F and want a super Takumar 50mm f 1.4 lens. Does the mirror return strike the rear element of the lens if I try to mate these two?

That was a problem with early S model Pentax's, but then only with with the 8 element version. You should be fine with either.
