I was camping in Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park in Colorado when this "intruder" started grazing near my van. I remained quiet not to scare him but this was "HIS" grazing ground and he came to within 3 feet of me.

That was a good idea! You never know how it might react. Many years ago my uncle was working a cattle roundup on a ranch in Montana and got charged by a bull elk while he was on his horse.

Very nice picture. Yes, deers are often easily scared, but that does not apply to all of them. You're lucky.
