Showing a little color
Posted By: blues_hawk, 07-23-2021, 01:36 PM

This little butterfly usually looks one color in the air and another when landed(imperial shuttle mode) but this one has a curled wing that is both casting a shadow, and revealing color. I decided to explain what's going on here as it took me a while to understand myself.

Well focused photo. Because of the curled wing, we can see the pretty blue color of the top side of the wings. Nice shot.

Thanks! I forgot to mention it's less than an inch long.

This is a nice capture of a beautiful little butterfly. At that size they are not the easiest to get in focus, but you nailed it.

Thanks! I had a time getting it to stop long enough to get a shot too. There was some racoon poop(crawdad shells) on that rock he had a keen interest in.

Nice shot! That bit of color really stands out against the otherwise muted tones.

I'd like to get one with it's wings open one day but they tend to stay in "Vader shuttle" mode.

Beautiful shot of a real cutie. Butterflies are drawn to piles of scat for the many minerals found in it.
