May be classified as a bad shot by one standard, but sure has some interesting features!
Might be a pretty good image. I find it interesting.
Is that one of those obnoxious beetles that bore through new rose buds? I hate those things, but this shot shows it in a different perspective.
Angky.

yes, all over our yard and destroying the rose bushes as quickly as possible. You'd think I'd be able to get a good pic of them; they barely move all day!

With shots like that you often do not realize what you've captured until you look at it on a screen.

I posted a shot of the same beetle today! They have that cool metallic look especially in the sun.

It is a Japanese beetle. They arrived in the United States in New Jersey on a ship circa 1916 and have been spreading westward since. They arrived here in Northeast Iowa circa 2002. At first they were manageable.

By around 2005 growing roses in NE Iowa became marginal because of Japanese beetles. Usually by June 27 they arrive in large #s and will consume my rose blooms, then they eat the rose buds. Then they start in on the leaves. From June 27 until the 2nd week of September I rarely can get a cut rose off my 34 rose bushes.

This year we had a drought. The ground is so hard Japanese beetles have had a hard time coming out of the ground from the grub stage. It rained an inch about 5-days ago. I expected them to blast off. But, I have seen only about 20 total the past 5-days. I have kept them at bay removing them and spot spraying them. I saw only 3 today. Usually, this time of year I have hundreds at Noon daily that I spray or remove, and again hundreds more at 6 p.m. voraciously eating off my 34 rose bushes.

I hate the buggers.
