Mrs. and Mr. Bird

I managed to get a couple of decent shots yesterday in my backyard. I hope that one of you bird experts can tell me what kind it is.

My longest lens is a 300mm so I had to crop down to the actual pixels - a 600mm would have come in handy.

FA*300mm 1:4.0, K10D. 400 ISA, 1/350 f/6.7 and f/8 respectively. Auto focus and shake reduction.

I don't recall seeing a bird like that one in the first shot around my parts. The second brown bird right next to it seems more familiar. Nice shots!

I think it's a house finch. At least we have those around here, not sure about Arizona. Nice detail in the feathers.

I'd say a house finch. Great capture. The details in the feathers are excellent.

I have no ideas about their names but the orange pink feather is beautiful coming from this bird

They are called purple finches or purple house finches here in Ohio too.
