Your comment reminded me of - of all things - our honeymoon! We were married in at the end of August in 1968, and the day after the wedding we flew from St. Louis (Pan Am!) to Montego Bay, Jamaica. My folks planned (and payed for
) the trip, and arranged a rental car for the drive from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios. Of course the rental, a Ford Anglia, had right-hand drive and I had to adapt quickly to make (as I remember) the hour or so trip to our hotel. The drive along the north shore of Jamaica was amazing around sunset, and we arrived in one piece.
I was familiar with the nature of small British cars, since - as I've mentioned in other threads - I learned to drive in a LHD Morris Minor, but our rental was, of course, right-hand drive. My experience with the Morris was useful however. During our stay in Jamaica, we drove over the mountains to Kingston, during which a thunderous rain drenched us about half way, and the Anglia stalled and stopped running. Owing, to my life with the Morris, I knew just what to do; as soon as the rain stopped, I jumped out of the car, dried the points with my handkerchief, and drove on our way. My bride was very impressed!
