Large Moth Hanging on the Window
Lens: Sigma 170-500 DG Camera: Pentax KP Photo Location: Home ISO: 1250 Shutter Speed: 1/180s Aperture: F6.7

My wife alerted me to this moth while cleaning the windows. Based on internet search, appears to be a Polyphemus Moth, First photo shot with Sigma 170-500, second and third photos shot with Sigma 17-70. Pardon the grimy windows.

Huge beast!
I found one like that in the tropics; didn't think they would be here in this northern part of the world.
I think I like what that 17-70 did the best--the middle shot especially.

Now that's a moth with presence - great shots of a creature that creepy and cool at the same time.

Don't think I've seen one before. Had the. 170-500 on the camera when noticed the moth. Glad I took the shot because it hasn't spread it swings since then. Thanks for you comments. The 17 -70 did give the best detail.

I hope not. She was outside cleaning some dust off the front windows when she found this moth. Rather than disturb it she let me get the photos. Thanks for your insightful comments.
