Some light

I like, I dislike. In some aspects I like how these turned out but they just don't have that punch I would like them to have.

No "punch" needed. The setting sun makes for perfect light in this setting. I like them both, but that second shot is really good!

the second one is fine, siloutes are like that.

For the first, Look at your contrast curve.

You might want to spread the histogram out a little more and lighten the mid range.

Thanks Maxwell, I really didn't expect that.

Lowell, thank you also. I always appreciate the pointers.

I would disagree with your feelings on both shots. The first is absolutely nailed. Couldn't be better. Not every shot has to have a ton of contrast and vibrant colour. The soft pastel light captured off the water is great. The reflections add an almost acrylic painting look to the image. But what really makes this shot excellent is the reflection of the wing tip close to the water. Superb!!

The second is also very good and on it's own is an excellent shot but just not to the same level as the first. Well done in both.

Edit, funny I didn't look at anyone else's comments before posting and I see Alan really like the 2nd one. I do too but the first just grabbed me more.

I am with Peter. The first is wonderfully subtle.

You don't always have to punch. Sometimes a slap has the desired effect. #1 is a slap. Gorgeous.

Thanks for the very kind words everyone.
It fun playing with color and light. So many different moods.
I sure didn't expect the comments though.
