I think it's a small moth.

I've been away from a camera for a while. Just started back at it yesterday. So anyway I just did this today for practice on the first thing that popped up.
I shot it with a 40-150 lens with a 1.4 teleconverter. The combination seems to work pretty well for macro.

Based on a quick internet search, looks like it might be a Pearl Crescent Butterfly. Regardless of its identity, you made a beautifully detailed capture of it. Very nice colors. Thanks for posting the image.

Thanks Mike. I see you've been active lately. Been looking at some of your images.
I have a dragonfly coming soon. I was just messing around with dragon flies and put a twist on the next image.

Fascinated by those segmented-looking antennae.
Seeing such detailed images of these animals as you folks show, I always start getting into their very real-looking heads and wondering what they are thinking about some one-eyed monster staring at them and making clicking noises.

Very nice! The long lens/teleconverter combo really helps separate the butterfly from the background.
