Big brown furry thing

No idea what this thing is but it’s big, brown and furry.

Possibly a Hummingbird moth of some sort?

I also think it is some type of hummingbird moth. Not the type that I've seen here. Have you seen it in flight?

It didn’t fly so much as fall out the air. I checked hummingbird moths but the eyes are different and they don’t have the 3 spots on the face.

If it falls out of the air and doesn't hover, it's not a hummingbird moth. Thanks there spots on the face should aid in ID, but I've had no luck so far.

I know it’s not, but just for fun, check out murder hornets. The closest I can come is some kind of carpenter bee.

I know nothing about entomology, but I had a few minutes to kill... scroll down to the second image, the page talks about different kinds of carpenter bees in CA

Glad everyone else did the research. It's a nice shot of something I've never seen in Arizona. Frankly, don't really want to see one either.
