Spring has sprung
Lens: DA* 300/4 Camera: Pentax K-3 Photo Location: Adelaide ISO: 640 Shutter Speed: 1/500s Aperture: F11

First butterfly of the season (Australian painted lady) taken 21st August. Landed in front of me to soak up the late afternoon light.

An early spring this year, feels a good couple of weeks+ ahead of normal.

Nice photo with good focus and colors. Still trying to get through hot summer days here. Spring is the time for rejuvenation.

2nd day of spring and its 30C here with a dirty pre-frontal northerly pulling down hot air from the interior of the continent. Typically don’t see this until the last week or so of September. Back to 16C tomorrow once the wind swings to the SW bringing cool air off the Southern Ocean.

Fine details show on that butterfly.
Precisely focused.
Interesting butterfly to look at for us who don't have painted ladies anywhere.
That ground looks wet! It's a bit hard for me to handle seeing water; it's all smoke and fires around here.
Angky.

Thank you for your kind words. I was out practicing birding with the DA 300/4 when tbe butterfly landed in front of me. That allowed me to capture the 🦋 without disturbing it.

Yes, the US had had a shocker of a year for wild fires. After a very dry autumn, southern Australia has had a wet winter. So there will be lots of fuel about this coming summer which will be a concern.
