Cool shot. Pretty detailed capture of the kingfisher in photo and video. The small bird was overmatched.

Interesting video. About 16-20 seconds, when the Willie Wagtail flys off and leaves the branch shaking, the Kingfisher's body shakes back and forth but its head remains still. Good suspension (Kingfisher IBIS ??). I guess it accounts for their accuracy when they dive on a fish.

Thanks! The Wagtail tried, but the Kingfisher knew he was better equipped.

Birds are amazing like that. I've watched Herons where their neck seems to flap in the breeze, but the head stays perfectly still.
Hang on, is it a Kingfisher, or an Ibis?

Great catch! Willies are such feisty, fearless little characters. The kingfisher looks like it is trying to pretend the Willy isn't there, but I presume the Willy was making its usual loud chitter-chatter noises?

I think that's what the Kingfisher is saying! Thanks!

Naturally, but he gave up.

Excellent capture Rob! The Kingfisher doesn't even acknowledge the other bird is there.

Thanks Todd! Yes, it was a case of "you are beneath my notice. Begone, pathetic creature".
