This in an old one that I dug up when going through some files. A regular visitor to our backyard, a Cooper's Hawk.

Very nice shot. Like the feather detail and the eye. Looks like he took the red eye flight.

That's nice Todd!!!!!
That's a mature specimen. The red eyes give it away. Hard to find shot.
How come nothing like that ever happens in My back yard?
Oh no......I have to tromp through the mud and muck, sometimes in freezing cold........and might get a shot and might not get a shot.
Most of the time, nothing.
That really is a well exposed image.

Very nice Todd. Such a tiny beak for a bird that size - cf kingfishers etc. I have yet to catch any kind of raptor in the wild.

Thanks so much LightSpeed. I hate to admit, but I set up a kill zone for the hawks with my bird feeder in the oak trees. I saw a lot of doves get taken out over the years.

Thanks Angky! It was one of the shots that I didn't screw up in my early bird photography years.

Thanks Peter! I was fortunate to have these hawks come jetting through my backyard a couple of times a day looking to catch one of the birds at my feeder. It was not so good for the little birds, however...
