At a loss

I’m at a loss to identify this bird photographed at the Desert Botanical Garden. Any help?

Pretty shots of the bird. I don't know the name, but did look at some pictures, and a Red-masked parakeet looks similar. How big is this bird? Thanks for posting.

Too large to be a parakeet. More like a parrot.

Actually, the Red-masked Parakeet is as close as I can come. And there was a female with the male.

I've read a little more, the description does match pretty well with your photos, but also says it's about 13 inches. Sounds like the ones in the US are escaped pets.

Great shots of a Red-cheeked Conure a.k.a Red-cheeked Parakeet, a native of South America. Somebody must have lost a cage bird.
