Originally posted by Sailor Thanks very much, and you're right - the color's subtlety is hard to capture with a camera, but it's amazing when you see it in person. It's hard for me to believe that I'm 75, but I don't let it get me down (too much), because I took your advice and had a great drive in the 911 on this sunny beautiful day. The warm air, low humidity, the snarl of the a flat 6 and the crackle of the exhaust make a heady mixture!

Beautiful car, Jer. I'm no photo expert , but I wonder if you try different meter modes, which I'm sure you have. I wonder if spot meter would meter the colour, more to your satisfaction ?

What an evocative description....gives me the sense of being there.
As do you, I love the sound of a high revving engine.
Our last car, which we traded in....in 2020, had a high performance 60 degree, DOHC , 4 valves per cylinder V6. It had 6 speeds forward and every so often on a lonely highway, when other traffic was absent....I would mat the throttle hard, to the floor, from a rolling start of about 5 mph. It revved very quickly and was programmed to shift hard @ it's 7000 rpm redline.
Once this engine started to rev to the 5500 to 7000 rpm range....it had a very throaty, hard hammering exhaust note.
Unfortunately at around 7000 in first...the sedan was close to the local speed limit of around 60 mph.....and I would back off the throttle shortly after the shift to second. I had five more gears to go...but....
....although.....I do enjoy working a powerful engine every so often... I don't want my fun...'documented' ....by the Mounties .
We old geezers have to get our fun, where and when we can get it.
Happy belated 75th. I'm not all that far behind.
