Pacific Dogwood Turning Autumn
Posted By: angkymac, 10-11-2021, 05:53 PM

Cornus nuttallii .
I was always astonished at what Ansel Adams could do with dogwood blossoms in his post processing (darkroom).
Here, however, I just captured the first changing leaf for this autumn.
I am curious about the tiny light colored "half moon" on the upper edge--how it corresponds so perfectly to the edge of the leaf beneath.
Perhaps some interaction with the light due to the temperature difference on the edge of the leaf beneath???
Always, with nature, there is something to inspire a new question...!

You have a good eye for finding and capturing curious detail. It is likely that you are correct that touching the leaf below caused this aberration. Looking close, the tip of the leaf is also a bit yellow where it touches the leaf below. Nice thoughtful capture.

You are right; a bit of yellow on the tip!
Hadn't noticed that...
I was just captivated by the single colored leaf in the midst of all the other green ones--and one more that is just barely beginning to turn.
Thanks for the observation, Mr. Mike!

Like Em said. Beautifully composed and the one red leaf adds a lot to the image. Nice separation from the background as well. Nice work.

Thank you! That background separation took some footwork, so I'm glad it worked for you.

Very pretty capture. You are correct as my close personal friend, Albert Einstein was said, "The more you know, the less you know." In other words, you find an answer to a question and it opens
doors to more questions. Well done sir.

Well seen and executed Angky. There is beauty all around, and you have a good eye for capturing it.

That's just about the size of it, isn't it?! Didn't know your friend said that, but it's certainly true for me.

Thanks for the compliment.
And I really do agree with what you said about beauty being all around.
I really do have to force myself to look for the beauty sometimes when I have such a native penchant for finding the other side of things!
Keep showing us the beauty you see!
