Smiley face from downunder
Posted By: Stu, 12-04-2008, 03:46 AM

This is my first try at uploading photos, so I hope it works.

These were taken from my back door step and show Venus, Jupiter and the crescent moon.
They're not very good photos but interesting all the same.

They were taken with a K200D & FA 28-80 F3.5-5.6, hand held (I need to get a decent tripod) with the camera held against the back of the house to reduce shake. I think I had the shake reduction turned off as well.

First one
EXIF
Exposure time 1/20 s
F-number f/4
Exposure program Manual
ISO speed ratings ISO 400
Date/time original 1/12/2008 8:49:33 PM
Exposure bias value 0.00 eV
Metering mode Center weighted average
Focal length 38 mm
Exposure mode Manual exposure
White balance Auto white balance
Focal length in 35mm film 57 mm
Scene capture type Standard

Second one
EXIF
Exposure time 2 s
F-number f/8
Exposure program Manual
ISO speed ratings ISO 200
Date/time original 1/12/2008 9:25:47 PM
Exposure bias value 0.00 eV
Metering mode Center weighted average
Focal length 40 mm
Exposure mode Manual exposure
White balance Auto white balance
Focal length in 35mm film 60 mm
Scene capture type Standard

Third one is the same as the second but put through auto levels & noisewear pro in photoshop.
Any comments welcome as I'm still learning the basics

Cheers
Stu

Thanks for the feedback.
I'm not sure why they came out so small when I uploaded them, I'm sure I'll work it out

Tip for shooting moon photos: Treat the moon as a light source, you want the shortest exposure possible to capture the most detail from the moon, and change your aperture to compensate.
