Thanks for the comment, I'm using the K100D and that was shot with a Sigma 28-105 f3.8-5.6 UC-III lens. Cheers.

That's a neat shot good job. If you wanted to improve it, you could have taken the shot from a lower angle so that you could take more advantage of DOF in the picture.

Nice shot and lighting as well as an excellent idea.
There's something about all the unused black space - perhaps too much of it!!! Don't know, no offence meant.

Good observation JC, it gets me thinking of the right balance between light and darkness in the scene and the rule or thirds. My intention was to draw focus to the stark simplicity of the cup and table(white) with the arm of the sofa(red/orange) leading to it. The dark background was the overall canvas that holds the whole thing together. Thanks for the comments and certainly no offence taken. I might try a b&w conversion and experiment.

Nice shot. I'd crop it to 10x8 to get rid of the black headspace on top. Other than that I think it's excellent.

Thanks for the comment Brit and I agree that the DOF is a bit to shallow. The shot was taken hand held under normal tungsten lighting and I needed a faster shutter speed to prevent shake but at the cost of DOF. It was one of those compositions that was just there and there was little preparation done for it. If I had to do it again, I certainly would use my tripod.

Thanks for your comment Matt. I did try the 8x10 crop but it seemed to mess up the aspect ratio of the composition and my sense of the rule of thirds.
