Speaking of Turquoise . . . . . . . . . .

In a previous thread, the popularity of turquoise in '50s American car was noted. Here are shots of a couple of other two-tone white/turquoise mid '50s cars taken at a car show I attended last Saturday; these shots reminded me that my dad owned a '56 Dodge with big fins and a white/turquoise paint job.

That '56 Ford Fairlane has the same colour combo as my parent's '56 Fairlane. Same engine too, as per the red Thunderbird badge on the front fender...signifying the 312 Y8, as Ford called this engine series, as opposed to V8.

Great pix Jer. I'm enjoying your series. This past year (2021), I was at two car shows, almost all the rest weren't running because of Covid. I'm living vicariously through your pix.

That '56 Chev wagon is also quite a looker.

Popular color in that era. These folks really know how to make their cars look good.

Thanks, Les. It was fun to be at a sizable car show again. I shot so many frames - more than I normally would do - since had been so long since I've been at a decent car show. I'll be posting some more in the coming days.

The lines of both cars have aged well!

This was a pretty serious car show; most of the vehicles I saw looked to be in excellent condition.

Dad had a 1957 (my birth year) Ford Fairlane, purchased used in the early '60s. I don't think he was proud of it. It was pink and white.

I was born in '46, so I got to "enjoy" all of the colors of the '50s, particularly since my Dad bought a new car every year (as did many folks in those days). In '55, we had a tri-color Dodge (pink, charcoal, and off-white), in '56 the turquoise and white Dodge, and in '57 a pink and off-white Mercury. In '58 he mercifully decided on a red and white Plymouth, a four-door hardtop (no center post) that looked like Christine - except with four doors.
