Is This A Hibiscus?
Lens: HD Pentax DA 16-85mm Camera: K10D Photo Location: Neighbor's Garden-Sac. ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/30s Aperture: F11

Found this tiny flower in a neighbor's garden. He didn't know what it was. It had a brilliant pungent herbal scent about the bush while I was photographing it.
The flower is a bit under 2 inches in diameter. Looks almost like a tiny hibiscus.
The image was cropped considerably to isolate the flower--about twice enlarged from the original APS-C sensor. Taken with the 10 mp K10D, so it is starting to lose resolution.
I liked the flower a lot, but couldn't identify it.
Angky.

I don't know what it is, but it is a nice bloom and you captured it very well with good detail and colors. I looked at several pics of dwarf hibiscus and couldn't find a match. The foliage looks a little different also.

Thanks for checking and for your observations on it.
I was finding the same, but I'd bet that it has something to do with the family of hibiscus.

According to the 'Google Lens' app, which I just downloaded and added to my phone for the purpose of trying to find out what flower this is (BTW my wife uses 'Google Lens' to identify all sorts of garden plants and bugs and loves it!), it could very well be a version of Malva Sylvestris or the Common Mallow. It is a naturally occurring wildflower in the UK and many parts of Northern Europe, has been cultivated as a garden plant in many other parts of the world and has become listed as an 'invasive species' in North America due to it's ability to escape from gardens and take over local habitats!

Lots of info on the Wikipedia page for it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malva_sylvestris

A Google image search for 'Common Mallow' gives tons of hits that look a lot like the flower in question too and a general Google search indicates that the Mallow family also includes hollyhock and hibiscus so your initial suspicion looks well founded!

Thank you much for all this info!
I have avoided phone apps for all the trouble early ones caused me, but perhaps this 'Google Lens' would be a useful one. Thanks for mentioning it!
Mallows I had heard / read of, but never had seen one. Now I have!
Fascinatingly pretty flowers! But I don't like the idea of *another* invasive specie!
Again, thank you!
Angky.
