They actually have two chicks, but only one can be seen here on Mum's back.

Very nice shot, Rob. I know how hard these can be to photograph. There is a pair that raises a chick or two on the dam behind the house here every year. But they are very shy - into the water and gone every time I try for a pic. You have done well. I will have to try harder.

Thanks! This pair are out in the open in a very popular nature reserve, so I guess they are used to people. She was keeping a close eye on me, but hopefully tomorrow I can go back with the teleconverter and get a bit closer.

Thank you! I tried the teleconverter today and I'm really disappointed with the results.

The photos with the teleconverter were rubbish, but the video from the camcorder is cute.

Thanks Mike! I'll have to take a trip out to a nearby dam and see if I can get photos and video of the Great Crested Grebes.
