Canna Leaves- Curves & Contours, Sunlight & Shadows
Lens: HD Pentax DA 16-85mm Camera: K10D Photo Location: Neighbor's Garden-Sac. ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F11
Posted By: angkymac, 10-16-2021, 01:08 PM

A very low sun, early this morning, found an opening and struck my neighbor's variegated canna lily leaves.
Just happening to be there, I got snagged by it's bright glow.
An access point gave me a shot to show a bit of what really was there just before the sun rose above it's light portal.
A donut given to my neighbor satisfied him!
Maybe tomorrow morning I'll share some of his coffee.
Angky.

A contrast in color and direction. The rusty red leaves flow upward while the variegated green leaves flow away from the center. The bright sunlight highlights these contrasts and make this a pleasing image. PS, it looked nice to me instantly. Good eye.

Well, certainly you are correct!
I hadn't noticed the changed directions; I guess it just appealed to me without me realizing what it was.
Thanks for the accurate and helpful observation!

A very clever photograph - nature presented as an abstract. Good stuff!

Very good artistry in this shot Angky! I really like the converging/diverging lines and patterns, as well as the colors and lighting. Well done.

Thanks for expressing it that way--sort of novel.

Thank you!
The notion of artistry is a bit unusual to me; I always knew I would never be able to paint as an artist, so I just wanted to take pictures of what I saw.
But thanks for the expression. I'm glad of your approval.

The contrast in lighting, forms and colours allowed you to create (as observed by other posters) a nearly "abstract" image . Simple and beauty. You had good eye, well done!

Thank you for your assessment; I appreciate knowing that.

Thanks for the exuberance over the image!
Glad to know there is some kind of art in what I thought was only a dull engineer's orientation!
(No criticism of engineers--just heard I didn't have much artistic skills, and I remembered being an engineer once upon a time.)

It does indeed appear very abstract doesn't it--almost to the point where it doesn't make any sense to me.
But there are the patterns! And I do like those.
Anyway, glad you like it! Thanks!
