The light was just right to glow on the water and back light the sails

Nice capture. Looks like an evening club race.

Wat a calming, and beautiful scene. Conveys really well what is great about sailing.

The water is superb! I've seen bright lights on water, but this is a unique one for me.

Agree with every thing said. The light on the water is special and creates a nice tone for the scene.

What an incredibly gorgeous and serene setting. Could not ask for better conditions. Many thanks for posting.

It was a club race but at 11AM, I think the lighting was caused by a break in the cloud layer with the sun reflecting off the water then back down off the clouds.

I just noticed that the shot was taken in Michigan; where was it taken? I'm curious, since we sailed Saginaw Bay and Lake Huron during the years we lived in Michigan.

Interesting. My wife and I took a demonstration sail on Lake St. Clair on a new boat we were considering. It was a long time ago, but I remember that the test sail was associated with Detroit In-The-Water boat show back in the '80s.

Very nice image with outstanding lighting. The shimmering water in contrast with the darker sky makes a very nice palette for the sail boats.
