Unicorn or Narwhale?
Lens: HD Pentax DA 16-85mm Camera: K10D Photo Location: North Fork American River, CA ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/250s Aperture: F8
Posted By: angkymac, 10-20-2021, 07:00 PM

Found this gnarled old root on top of a ridge at fairly high elevation on an old burned area. Remnants of the original forest. Weathered by blowing ice and snow.
Great to see the dense stand of young noble firs coming back!
Angky.

I like the grain of the wood in this piece. To me it sort of looks like flowing hair, a cape or a cowl. Could be the evil emperor from Star Wars.

NO!
I don't want to hear his voice way up there in that scarey desolate place!!!
The sight of that chunk of wood was bad enough!
Thanks for your assessment! Seriously appreciated!

Very imaginative, on the verge of something abstract.

Right! I wondered whether it should be nature or abstract. But I like the nature of the surrounding noble firs.
