The Narrows, Zion National Park
Lens: HD Pentax-DA Fish-Eye f/3.5-4.5 10-17mm ED Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Zion National Park ISO: 200

Here are three images taken while hiking "The Narrows" of the North Fork of the Virgin River, Zion National Park. I was quite fortunate to be in the right places at the times when "the glow" was present on the canyon walls. While around 1000 feet above the river, the walls in places come within 30 feet of each other. A memorable and breathtaking place and hike (in more ways than one!).

The Mystery Wall

Just south of "Wall Street," the upper portion of the Narrows.

You really did capture these photos when the lighting was just right and got beautiful results. Looks like a place that I would like to visit. Thanks for posting.

Thanks Mike! I can’t recommend it enough; I’ve visited quite a few parks in the last few years and Zion is now at the top as far as my personal ranking goes.

Thank you Bob! Yes, at specific locations at certain times of the day, the light reflects back and forth down the canyon revealing unique qualities.

The lighting and the colors are certainly impressive.
But beyond that is the excellent composition!
Good work!

Wonderful shots. The colors are impressive, and the composition very accurate. That canyon should be impressive.
Warm regards,
Maurizio

Many thanks to all for the kind comments!

I had a great reference to help in the planning, I can't recommend visiting the park and doing the hike enough! And the rugged weather-resistant character of Pentax gear is perfect for it.

Awesome photos !

Your photos capture well the sights we saw just two weeks ago, as we hiked 'The Narrows'.

Thank you so much! As you know, the lighting can be tricky. I hope you enjoyed the hike/wade/swim as much as we did; we went just a little beyond Wall Street and turned back from there. As it was, it still took us nearly 8 hours. But it was one of the most memorable things we've done!

Jaw-dropping, Allan. Incredible. Probably beyond my capability, I'll have to enjoy it vicariously. Thank you!
