Impromptu Engagement Shoot
Posted By: maxwell1295, 12-05-2008, 08:17 PM

To give you a little background before telling the story.....I work at a college campus on Long Island. I was in the Alumni Center earlier today and one of the women there mentioned that a grad was bringing his GF to the campus with the intent of proposing to her in the Chapel. I had the kit in my office so I said I'd get it and shoot the engagement. Having never done anything like this, I had no idea what to expect. I knew what door they were coming in and where he planned to pop the question, but that was about it.

I had both K200D bodies in their usual configuration (DA*50-135 on one and Sigma 24-60 on the other. I also brought the DA35 and an old flash. I decided not to use the flash indoors since there was decent light coming in through the windows of the Chapel.

Anyway here are the pics:

Nicely done Alan, I particularly like the conversions. What's going on in #9 though, there appears to be something sticking in his head?

BTW, better an impromptu shoot than an impromptu engagement.

Excellent series, Alan. Numbers 5 & 10 are my favs. After capturing their engagement so well, don't be surprised if they ask you to do their wedding

My thoughts too, they're great photos!

Did you just go lurk there ahead of time looking like a photographer shooting in the chapel who just happened to be there for the proposal? or did they (she) know what you were doing there?
