Butterfly On Flower in Woods
Lens: Pentax 70-200 Camera: Pentax K-1 II Photo Location: NY (woods) ISO: 500 Shutter Speed: 1/320s Aperture: F14

This is a crop of a shot that I took in the woods early in September of this year on an outing. I am not sure if it is a butterfly or type of moth, but it seemed to be checking out a flower similar to what the Monarchs were landing on. I had some really nice sun that day.

Looking at it's antenna it is definitely a Butterfly and it has beautiful patterns on the wings.

Wonderful bright colors in the butterfly and flowers. The wing pattern is both different and nice.

Yes, great shot of a fritillary. However, frits are more easily told apart by their underwing pattern so I doubt this could be told to species by its dorsal pattern with any degree of confidence.

Thank you MikeNArk. I agree about the colors, and the lighting was good..
