Small things easily missed in the forest
Lens: Irix 150mm/f2.8 Camera: KP
Posted By: newmikey, 11-17-2021, 05:37 AM

Just walking the dog today I decided to look for the mundane, the simplest of the simple and lift it above the threshold, make it noticeable. A crumpled brown leaf still hanging on for dear life, raindrops against the veined structure of a recently fallen leaf, a lost feather of a bird awkwardly stuck on a tree stump. There is beauty in everything. Note the KP's performance her going up to ISO12800 (with a bit of help from NeatImage NR). PEF converted with Darktable, post-processing in Gimp.

Those are excellent. Great eye to find these and frame them to their best.

Those are great and that Irix lens is impressive. Tripod or handheld?

Great images... have you been reading Freeman Paterson? One of his projects was to define a 10x10 foot area and shoot a whole roll of film without leaving it. A bit extreme, but, it does sharpen your eye in terms of possibilities.

That sounds like a challenge! I accept. Sounds really cool, I gotta give it some serious thought. That works out to 3x3 meters so about 10 sqm, really tiny!

Pick a good spot, mowed lawns can be really boring.

Given digital non-film cameras I’m going to avoid doing this for an entire battery charge or sd card. Lol. But I am wondering if doing that on a more limited basis might be interesting. Maybe - 10 images in 100 square feet?

Reminding me of walking around more slowly in the forest, to see more of natural beauty.
