Rosso corsa - Italian racing red ...
Lens: DA 4/60-250 Camera: K3

Revisiting some shots from a while ago ...

I don't think tha many 4 cylinder 250cc engines have been produced.
That old Benelli 250 quattro was introduced in the 1970's I think and is in fine shape.
The engine sound is quite special!

Beautiful motorcycle. I also, never knew any manufacturer built a street four cylinder as a 250cc. Racing 250 inline fours...yes...Honda for instance, but I've never seen a street bike with a 4 cylinder.

What a beautiful motorcycle and to top it off the gas filler cap is painted in the colours of the Italian flag, if I'm not mistaken.

Love the way the exhaust pipes are shaped and the the large, drum brakes. This is quite an exceptional machine.

Thx for posting.

Wonderful images of a great looking motorcycle.... I like the gently curved exhausts and intake trumpets too... Thanks for sharing!

A four cylinder 250cc would certainly be rare. Tight quarters for four cylinders. Great exposure and colors.

Thanks for your comment! I believe that Benelli came out with an 750 cc 6 cylinder in-line engine just before Honda released their CBX with 1000cc! I am a big fan of Honda reliability, I've ridden probably close to 200000km on Honda V4's.
But the Benelli design is just ... well, so Italian

... and that inlet sound of the open inlet trumpets is quite sexy!

Thanks Mike, I believe that the indicators are not part of the original design ... most likely required to get a German license plate.
In German we call these "Ochsenaugen" - ox-eyes.

Italian motorcycles are beautiful. When I began riding in the '60's, a buddy had a 250cc Ducati Monza. The 4 stroke, single cylinder Ducati of the '50's, '60's and '70's was to my eye, a work of art. My buddy later bought a MHR (Mike Hailwood Replica) Ducati twin. He also had a Honda inline six...the CBX and a '78 Yamaha SR 500 single, black with gold pinstriping, White brothers megaphone, larger than stock Mikuni carb, clubman race's bars...it was quite something.

He had good taste, and a fat wallet.

I recall the Benelli 750cc six cylinder, think it was called the 'Sei'...which I'm guessing maybe Italian for six.

In '74 I was on a holiday to the UK and came across a BSA 500cc single, Goldstar and an MV Agusta 750, 4 cylinder with shaft drive..a touring bike, not their racer. Also saw my first BMW R90S. A guy from Sweden rode it.

As mentioned before, I still have my Yamaha SR 500 and '67 Matchless 750 Scrambler...a G 15 CS.

That is an impressive list of very nice motorcycles!
... and yes, "sei" mean "sechs" in German

That is a nice bike in great condition. The only other production 4 cylinder 250 I can recall is the Suzuki Katana 250. It may have been only available in Japan though. I have the 1100 version. Suzuki GSX250S Katana

Thanks for your comment and the additional info!
I've never heard about the 250 cc Katana before. I don't think it was available in Germany/Europe.
