I found the counterpoint between the orthogonal character of a lot of the lines with those curves in the arch, the shape of the umbrellas, and the way the chairs were flung around fascinating. The severe verticality of the rain, the umbrella poles, the edges of the stonework, and the pillars sets off the irregularity of the rain hitting both hard surfaces and the water in the pool.
One thing that occurred to me: it's an example of a picture that has no real "subject" and doesn't document some object, rather the subject is the scene as a whole.
You know I'm a big admirer of your foggy mountain pictures, but I think this one's phenomenal. And you did it without taking undue and anticompetitive advantage of the inherent beauty of Scotland.
