The rest of the bike is in some thief's beat up, old windowless van, along with other purloined items .

The image tells the story nicely, well done.
From time to time I come by by bicyles where it is the other way around (the frame is chained somewhere but the wheels and seat are missing), only the front wheel being left is new for me though.

Well, maybe the cyclists need to chain both the front wheel, the body and the backwheel ? ;-) Then the might find their bike again where they left it ?
Thank you for wathing and commenting ..

Sir,

Your name interests me - my grandfather used to work for a cycle manufacturer named Pedersen in Dursley, Gloucestershire, UK. This factory produced the 'unusual' Dursley-Pedersen cycle - I wondered if there is a connection with your antecedents ?

I agree about the need to secure all removeable parts of a bicycle - these days, that can include almost all the components, as well as wheels and frame.

A sad fact of life. Too bad for the previous owner. My son-in-law is a Pedersen, living in the USA.

Yeah ... everything can be stolen these days ;-)

Regarding my family name: Pedersen
Some time ago a lot of people in Denmark very called a -sen name.
A Pedersen was the son of Peder.
As Petersen was the son of Peter.
And a Jensen was the son of Jens.

In Iceland they still have the names ..søn (the son of...) and ..dottir (the daughter of ...)

In Denmark today it's not so common to take a ..sen-name. People like to be themselves!

My grandpa was a bike mechanic, but I don't think that the names are connected ;-)

That's about the least effective way to use a bike lock. Now, one more person knows that.

Kind of like Celtic names, in Scotland and Ireland. 'Mac'...'Mc"....mean 'son of', in Gaelic, language of the Celts..

For example McDougall or Mac Dougal...mean son of 'Dougal'. My name starts with 'Mc '.
