Great Blue Heron takes a leap of faith!
Lens: 55-300 PLM Camera: K-70 Photo Location: Loxahatchee, FL ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/2000s Aperture: F6.3

Cropped down a bit, this Great Blue leapt off the fishing peer, cleared the alligator lurking below and landed behind him - no reaction from the gator!

They must sense when the gators are hungry, or gators don't like Heron. Great sequence, photo 2 is a real keeper.

Thank you - I wasn't ready for this sequence at all - that heron was sitting on the fence a good 5 minutes looking bored, all of a sudden off he goes!

Nice sequence of shots. You were more ready than you thought. Your first capture is very close to its launch site. Catching it in flight above the alligator was great. Good work.

Thanks guys! Part of the thing I love about this sport(?) is trying to capture wildlife on their terms - even if that's not how I feel while I am waiting for something to happen - then all of a sudden - it's happening!!!
