Forgotten Cacti In A Pot
Lens: SMC Pentax-DFA Macro f:2.8 100mm WR Camera: K-1 ii Photo Location: Neighbor's Garden-Sac. ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/20s Aperture: F11

It's easy to disregard these cacti, sitting unkempt in their pot.
But they are, actually, quite attractive, when a person stops to admire them.
Separate them from their environment, and overlook the accumulated dust.
They continue to grow and to be happy about it.
Angky.

Cacti don't require a lot of attention. Cleaning them is not easy without mishaps. A few spines in your fingers will teach you to leave them alone. Nice shot.

They do best -- like many orchids! -- with a little benign neglect. These are very handsome specimens, well-captured!

You mean to say that this nice soft velvety fur would not be a pleasant thing to touch!!!?
Thanks for the note!

Isn't that the truth!
Just the plant alone seems to guarantee a good shot.
Thanks for the note of appreciation.

"Benign neglect..."
Now that is an interesting way of thinking about it.
"Leave me alone, dang it!"
Takes me back several years to my then teenaged daughters!
And, all things considered, I believe you are right--at least about the cacti (don't know about the orchids).
Thanks for the interesting note!
Angky.

<haha> Well, I do know about the orchids, and trust me, most folks fuss waaay too much with them. Most commonly cultivated orchids aren't anywhere close to being "delicate" plants. Hence, "benign neglect". Cacti, too -- they're tougher than you think. (I dunno about the hairy parts, I think that's camouflage for nasty spines under it, neh?)

Right. It almost seems like I should re-do it in B&W.
Thanks for the note!

Thanks for the observation on the composition.
That was a bit of a problem for awhile. When I finally stumbled upon really tall and narrow, it suddenly seemed to work.

Right!
They look hairy and fuzzy and soft, but "ain't true"!
