Red Bellied Woodpeckers collecting
Lens: Sigma 170-500 DG Camera: Pentax KP Photo Location: Yard ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F8

Hickory nuts. Saw these woodpeckers and other birds yesterday up in the trees.

Thanks. Glad you liked them. On a gray day, I was glad to see them, but I was surprised to see woodpeckers collecting Hickory nuts.

I too am surprised to see woodpeckers collecting nuts; I thought they drilled the trees for bugs.
But, now I recall having seen some trees / poles jammed full of woodpecker holes that each have an acorn shoved tightly into them. Stored for winter, I think.
Ummm... I don't profess to know birds well, but the bottom "woodpecker" has somehow shortened his beak!

Thanks Angky. Now that you mention it, I believe I have seen the same thing. Holes drilled in trees with nuts deposited. By the way the bottom picture is a Tufted Titmouse.😊Added it as I liked its colors.
