When I went for my morning walk today with my favorite companion, the light in the park was just something extraordinary. A light layer of frost, combined with sunrise created a sparkle and crispness in the landscape that one seldom sees (especially in these usually dreary December days). I was schlepping along my new Irix 30mm (and yes, it almost dwarfs the KP) to get a little more MF exercise under my belt. I'll share a second post with more general shots but these three stood out because of the almost fairytale-like light. I think reality was even better than I can show but I tried to get close. (as usual, I host my shots on my own website - no sales, no advertisements - just my own webalbums - so feel free to click for slightly larger versions)
Dynamic range was quite extreme in some places and I did try to extract this amount of shadow detail from the individual raw files but in the end I preferred the tonemapped exposures (I shot brackets of -2.7, -0.7 and +1.3) as they seemed to keep the highlights better. Merging and tonemapping the raw files was done in batch with Photomatix (Linux version) and the resulting images were finetuned with Darktable for some increased saturation, vibrance and sharpening.
