I took an image at 85 mm FL, then another at 16 mm FL, both @ f/8 handheld. Results are excellent for landscape use.

I have a Pentax 16-85 on my Pentax K-3 II. It is an excellent lens. I have also done landscape shooting with it.

Beautiful images. Love the first one and like both. Really nice shot with great colors. As you noted, the lens produced good results, zoomed and wide.

Thank you for your words of appreciation. I'm trying to find as much information about the HD DA 16-85 mm ED zoom performance on the WEB. Apparently it performs best @ f/8 for most of its focal range except at 85 mm FL where f/11 is optimum. I'll have to try that but up to now, best rendering is around 30-35 mm FL @ f/8.
