I carry an official-looking laminated 'ID' card reading 'This card authorises the bearer - BY ORDER'. Works over 50% of the time - the others I leave, escorted, somewhat more rapidly than I entered. Then again, if you look and sound confident, it is truly amazing what you can achieve.
