Great catch of an awe-inspiring ancient monument!
This image vividly reminds me of an ancient pyramid I once stood upon. I was astounded and confounded with the mystery of what I lived that day.
A monument! That is all that was left. A monument to ponder and then:?
Admire? or Revile?
What did it mean for the people of that time?
Eager anticipation? Or Dreadful fear?
The people gone--the monument remained; and of both there was no meaning of their life that was left.
Are people permanent with great meaning, though invisible; or are monuments visible with no meaning, but ephemeral in the grand sweep of forever?
Good image you've given us!
Angky.

I met a traveller from an antique land...

Good impression of the sheer size of these things! I'd very much like to see them for myself some day.

In ancient beliefs there was no doubt that this was the 'Door way to eternity'... if they were right, then we've all got it badly wrong now.

Very nice image. It really puts into perspective the enormous amount of labor that went into constructing the pyramids.
