How does a person get the sun to shine up at them?
By standing on the edge of a western-flowing very deep, very long canyon as the sun drops down into the mouth of the canyon.
I thought it might be some kind of optical illusion, but I guess it is due in part to the curvature of the earth as well as the rapid decline in altitude from the cliff's edge at the top end of the canyon to the mouth of the canyon way to the west.

Anyway, I always like these little ferns that grow in wet moss; I can't help but shoot them even if the image is otherwise not very exceptional.

Had me confused. At first, I thought the photo needed to be rotated. Lots of ferns and moss with sun peeking through. Interesting one to look at.

I can guess you did find it a bit confusing!
If I hadn't shot it, I'd have rotated it too--except for the shape of the fern leaves.
