My first Portraits

Hi,just wanted to post my first portaits using umbrella lights.Got alot to learn would appreciate any comment or critique.Pics with the K20D -Sigma 17-70.I hope to get myself a flashgun for christmas hoping that will make a difference.I like the soft focus effect dont know how other ppl feel bout it but the customer was very happy with it.

She is a very beautiful lady. The last shot is a little backfocused.

Nice first attempt.

You might want to move the subject a little further from the background and use a larger lens opening to throw the background more out-of-focus. This will bring more attention to the subject and less to the almost in focus background.

Keep working on it, you have a great start going.

I agree about the second shot but don't give up on those cameo shots. That third shot comes very close to a cameo and I think they are the best portrait shot. They also happen to be one of the toughest to get, well, at least for me they are tough to get.

Job well done and keep up the good work!

thnx for suggestions,i wasnt sure bout the 3rd pic but i dont mind soft focus,Ive got alot of learnig to do, i ordered a Nissin Pz40i flash yesterday never used a flash gun b4 so lookin forward to the challenge.Hoping to improve results.
