Confederate Lieutenant: Muster and Inspection
Posted By: Marc Langille, 12-09-2008, 09:05 PM

Here is just one for now from last weekend. Something about this shot kept me coming back to it. Perhaps it's the expression on this Lieutenant's face in this portrait taken before the battle began.

Muster and Inspection (amongst the bayonets):

Sepia tone and intentional motion blur applied to reduce the sharpness a bit - the PENTAX-FA* 300mm F2.8 ED[IF] is too sharp for this type of imagery.

K20D, 1/1600 sec., F/7.1, ISO 1000, 300mm
Photo Dimensions 4672 x 3104

Hi Marc,
Nice catch. He definitely stood out with his pack and bed roll.

Marc, that is an exellent photograph and I agree, it's the facial expression that makes it special.

I like it as well. One other aspect I liked was the 'tie' he's wearing. His expression looks like he's about to chew someone any second...

Well done!

Time well spent - not sure if the expression is one of anger or reflection on the impending doom he is sending his troops into - intriguing either way. Well done.
