just like mine, is pretty soft at wide open.

How well does it sharpen up as you reduce the aperture?

doesn't say much about anything, not to me at least. You have a yellow, withered leaf and some twigs against a gray/blue sky. Looks like quite a bit of camera shake going on...

it seems in daylight it never gets razor sharp (compared to something like an FA43)

indoors (softer lighting) it gets better but nothing jaw breaking.
