Imagine how cold it must be on this ship ?

Container ship, frozen all over, moving westward towards the Great Lakes. Temperature was minus 25 degree C ( - 40 deg C windchill) on the Saint Lawrence today. These ships almost all have Filipino or South Asian crews, imagine how cold they must feel inside this steel box ... K3 + HD DA 16-85 mm ED lens at 85 mm FL and f/8.

Nice shot. I would definitely not want to be on a ship in that weather.

Many old wrecks transit on the Seaway with foreign crew members. Every year, Transport-Canada grounds some of these vessels unfit for safe sailing. Maritime conditions are extremely demanding in the wintertime.

Regards

P.S. I did some research on the Internet. This ship was built in 2014 and sails under a Hong Kong flag. It travels between Europe (Italy and Spain for the most part) and North America. It is not yet a "wreck" like so many vessels we see on the Saint Lawrence. Well-built vessels may be used easily for 20 years of cartage, if not more. At first I thought there was a landscape painting on the side of the boat but, no, the hull is strickly painted blue. The white patterns on the flanks are really just frozen mist, a tribute to the cold spell prevailing in Quebec these days.
