Nice capture and processing. This image really shows off the Pine Martin's features. Thanks for posting.

Great shot. I’m so used to them immediately scurrying away -how long did it stay still for you?

Details of its facial fur colors are quite interesting.
Very visibly shown here.
Angky.

This guy was a little ratty looking. I suspect he was a youngster just learning to make his way in the world.

He just sat up there looking at me like "What the frig is that thing down there."
He was quite confident that I wasn't a tree climber, he was fine, me where I was and him where he was.
Many of the older ones I've seen would have gone around the backside of the tree where I couldn't see most of them and peaked out.

We've been punished by them. One tried to come into Tess' tent one night on a canoe trip and she puncheded it in the nose. It sprayed her tent and she had to wash the tent in the lake (skunk smell, but not quite as pungent, but still, really bad.). They are a little beyond cheeky when they raid your food barrel. Downright obnoxious might be a better description.

The little guy who sprayed Tess' tent knew how to undo the clasp on the food barrel. She had to improvise a lock to keep it out of the food. It had eaten a whole breakfast for 3 people before she figured it out.

He crossed the path in front of me, saw me, ran up the tree, then sat and watched me. We had a "moment". Images like this, you don't usually get a second chance, I was so happy to be able to clean it up a bit. The odds of it happening again are remote.
